2024 Mercedes-AMG C43 Sedan Launched In India, Starts at Rs. 98 Lakh
Mercedes-Benz India has launched the all-new C 43 sedan alongside the GLE facelift. The new C 43 is the ninth model in Mercedes’ AMG portfolio for the Indian market and comes with a price tag of Rs 98 lakh (ex-showroom). Design
Compared to the standard C-Class, the C 43 features distinct AMG-specific elements that give it a sportier appearance. It includes the signature Panamericana grille with vertical slats, adaptive LED headlights, larger intakes with black accents, gloss-black mirror casings, and a front fender with a ‘Turbo Electrified’ badge to indicate the presence of a mild-hybrid system. The car rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and boasts a tweaked bumper design and diffuser at the rear for better aerodynamics. The quad tailpipes at the rear are a clear indicator of the C 43’s sporty character.
Powertrain
The most significant change in the all-new 2024 Mercedes-AMG C43 is its powertrain. Instead of the previous 3.0-litre turbocharged V6, it is now equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with an electric turbocharger. This new engine produces 408 bhp at 6,750 rpm and 500 Nm at 5,500 rpm, with an additional 14 bhp from the 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Power is sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission with a rear-wheel-biased system sending 31% of power to the front axle and 69% to the rear. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed time of 4.6 seconds.
More Upgrades
The chassis of the C43 has been significantly reworked to enhance its handling capabilities. It includes a revised front axle, AMG Ride Control Suspension with double wishbones at the front, active suspension dampers, multi-links, and rear-axle steering that can angle the rear wheels up to 2.5 degrees in either direction. The car features 370 mm steel discs with four-piston callipers at the front and 320mm with a single-piston calliper at the rear for braking.
Pricing
In terms of competition, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG C43 4MATIC directly rivals the BMW M340i and the Audi S5 Sportback. Interestingly, with a price tag of Rs 98 lakh, the C 43 is significantly more expensive than the M340i priced at Rs 71.5 lakh, and the S5 Sportback priced at Rs 75.74 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).
