Honda India has an ambitious plan to introduce several new cars over the next five years, with nearly half of them being electric vehicles. Among the exciting lineup, two cars are expected to make their debut in 2024. These will be the new Honda Amaze and a subcompact SUV based on the Honda Elevate. In this article, we’ll talk about the upcoming Honda cars in 2024 launching in India.
1. New-Gen Honda Amaze
The upcoming next-generation Honda Amaze is set to receive a significant design overhaul. It will align it with Honda’s contemporary sedan lineup including the Honda City and the international variant of the Accord. The exterior will showcase a generational update from sleek LED DRLs, LED headlamps, a fresh grille, a redesigned air dam, and a bumper at the front. The rear bumper will also feature a new design complemented by LED taillights.
Inside the cabin, the next-gen Amaze will feature a floating infotainment touchscreen unit located in the middle of the dashboard. More features include smartphone connectivity through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, a 3-spoke steering wheel with integrated controls, touch-sensitive HVAC controls, and an enhanced sound system.
Under the hood, the new-gen Amaze will pack a 1.2-litre i-VTEC NA petrol engine that produces 90 bhp of power and 110 Nm of torque. Paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. Reports suggest, there won’t be a diesel engine option as Honda has discontinued diesel engines across its lineup. The anticipated launch for the 2024 Honda Amaze is mid-year with expected ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs. 7.50 to 10.5 Lakh.
2. Honda Sub-4m Compact SUV
This upcoming sub-4m compact SUV will borrow design cues from the Honda Elevate. It will possibly retain elements reminiscent of the WR-V. The exterior will feature an all-LED setup, including headlights, taillights, and DRLs, offering a more rugged SUV vibe with a boxier design. To tackle varied terrains and road conditions, the ground clearance is expected to match or even exceed that of the WR-V.
Inside the cabin, the upcoming Honda car will offer a touchscreen infotainment unit similar to the Elevate and City. It will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and will offer automatic climate control, a sunroof, ambient lighting, and more.
As for the powertrain, the subcompact SUV will be available with a single petrol engine. It could be the 1.2-litre petrol engine from the Honda Amaze or the 1.5-litre unit available in the Elevate. The 1.2-litre unit seems a logical choice that will offer both fuel efficiency and performance. The upcoming Honda car will rival the Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Renault Kiger. The new Honda subcompact SUV is anticipated to launch in the second half of the next year in 2025, with expected ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs. 9 Lakh to 13 Lakh.
