Toyota is gearing up to introduce several new SUVs to the Indian market. These upcoming Toyota SUVs promise to offer a diverse range of options in the Indian market. These SUVs will expand the company’s portfolio further in the Indian auto market.
1. Toyota Corolla Cross 7-Seater
The seven-seater version of the Toyota Corolla Cross is expected to make its way to India by early 2026. This SUV will be manufactured in Toyota’s new plant in Karnataka. The upcoming Toyota Corolla Cross will be equipped with the same 2.0L petrol and 2.0L strong hybrid petrol engines found in the Innova Hycross. These vehicles share a lot in common including the platform.
2. Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor
Toyota’s next launch in India is likely to be the Urban Cruiser Taisor. This compact SUV coupe is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. It may undergo minor exterior and interior changes along with the badge swap. The power options are expected to include a 1.2L NA petrol engine and a 1.0L turbo petrol engine, available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
3. Toyota Fortuner Hybrid
The mild-hybrid variant of the Toyota Fortuner will feature a 48V system. It’s expected to debut in the Hilux model in international markets before potentially coming to India. It remains unclear whether this technology will be applied to the existing Fortuner or a next-generation version.
4. Toyota Electric SUV
Toyota is set to introduce its first electric SUV in India by 2025. This vehicle will be built on the 27PL platform and is based on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX. It will be available in single- and dual-motor configurations in global markets. The five-seater electric SUV offers a range of around 550 km on a single charge thanks to its 60 kWh battery pack.
5. Toyota Land Cruiser Prado
Following the positive response to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 in India, the Land Cruiser Prado is a strong contender for a domestic debut.
6. Toyota Land Hopper
Additionally, the rumoured Land Hopper, a compact version of the Prado, could be considered for the local market. This compact SUV might compete directly with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny five-door. There’s also potential for an electric powertrain in the future.
